Chad Boykin

Muay Thai Instructor

chad boykinChad began training in Dutch-Style Kickboxing and Muay Thai with Scott Francis, and in boxing with Pan American boxer Tony Avery, in 1994 at the Academy of Muay Thai Kickboxing. He began in-ring competition and working as an instructor at the Academy in 1997.

In 1998 Chad won the Toughman boxing tournament via four consecutive knockouts. Earlier that year he won the North Carolina Academy of Kickboxing middleweight kickboxing championship by TKO.

Chad became the co-founder, lead instructor, and managing co-owner of Kickboxing Unlimited with business partner Andre L. Carson in 1999.  Chad has cross trained in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) with Neal Weaver of TFTC Academy. He currently holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Geoff Balme.

In addition to combat sports, Chad has a background in personal training, fitness, and conditioning. He has completed three half-marathons and participated in amateur power-lifting and team triathlon events.  He was a professional personal fitness trainer, certified under the American Council on Exercise from 1999-2002, and locally by Phase II Fitness in 1998.

Combining his background in combat sports and fitness, he authored an instructional kickboxing and physical fitness book, Muay Thai Kickboxing: The Ultimate Guide to Conditioning, Training, and Fighting, which was published by Paladin Press in 2002.  His training articles have been published in national magazines including Inside Kung-Fu and Martial Arts Presents: Muay Thai.
