Open Guard offers a structured, progressive Muay Thai program that accommodates all skill levels. Our curriculum is divided into
four levels of training, so beginners can develop their skills without feeling overwhelmed by more advanced students. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect at each level:
Level 1: Beginner Muay Thai
This no-contact class introduces you to the fundamentals of Muay Thai in a welcoming and controlled environment. You’ll learn basic striking techniques using Thai pads and practice combinations with a partner. In addition to offensive techniques, we also teach the foundations of Muay Thai defense to prepare you for more advanced training. It’s perfect for anyone looking to learn, improve fitness, and build a solid base in Muay Thai without the intimidation factor.
Level 2: Intermediate Muay Thai
In Level 2, we elevate the intensity with
strength and conditioning drills that improve striking power and cardiovascular endurance. You’ll work on more advanced techniques and combinations while participating in semi-contact sparring to further refine your skills. This level bridges the gap between fundamentals and competitive training, preparing students for participation in
Point Kickboxing tournaments. It’s designed to build on the knowledge from Level 1 while advancing your Muay Thai skills in a supportive environment.
Level 3: Competitive Muay Thai
Level 3 is where things get more serious. This full-contact class focuses on preparing students for
semi-contact events. Here, you’ll continue to develop your fundamentals while incorporating controlled sparring sessions to practice everything you’ve learned in real-time situations. Students at this level commit to training 3-4 days per week and are required to participate in regular strength and conditioning classes to build endurance.
Level 4: Fight Team
Our Fight Team is the pinnacle of Muay Thai training at Open Guard. Fighters at this level compete in full-contact
International Kickboxing Federation (IKF), World Kickboxing Association (WKA), and International Sport Kickboxing Association (ISKA) sanctioned events, training 4-6 days per week. Once you accept a bout, you must attend an
8-week fight camp to prepare for competition. Training is individualized for each fighter and includes a customized
nutrition and strength and conditioning schedule to ensure each fighter is in peak condition for their fight.
