INSTRUCTOR BIO

Grason Cook

Grason Cook is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt under Professor Geoff Balme.  He initially trained in BJJ for two years in Atlanta at Knuckle Up under Roberto “Spider” Traven before pausing his training to focus on work and family.

After moving to Apex, North Carolina, Grason joined Open Guard BJJ in 2017 and has been a dedicated member ever since.  When the gym re-opened after COVID, Grason volunteered to help rebuild the program.  His natural ability to connect with people and teach led to him being asked to lead the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Fundamentals class, specifically designed to help new students begin their BJJ journey.

Grason excels at breaking down the basics of BJJ in a way that makes the sport approachable and less overwhelming for beginners.  His class has become a success, continually growing as he helps students learn at their own pace while overcoming personal obstacles on the mats.

In his spare time, Grason enjoys spending time with his family, weightlifting, and continuing his own BJJ training.
