John Deliso

John Deliso is one of our dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) instructors with a rich background in martial arts.  His journey began in New Jersey at the New Brunswick Police Athletic League, where he trained under Howard Davis Jr., a professional boxer and Olympic gold medalist.

In 2004, John began training BJJ with Christopher Brough at Elite Martial Arts in Old Bridge, NJ.  By 2012, he earned his brown belt at Advanced Martial Arts under black belt Brian Katz, and in 2021, he achieved his black belt in BJJ under Professor Geoff Balme.

John’s teaching career started in 2017 at Satori Academy in Edison, NJ, where he was invited to assist with their growing BJJ program.  In 2019, he trained with Marcio Bittencourt, a professional MMA fighter and fourth-degree black belt at Fight Club Jiu-Jitsu, where he assisted teaching the Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class.

After serving 25 years with the New Brunswick Police Department, John retired in 2019 and moved to North Carolina with his family.  He continues to pursue his passion for BJJ by training with his younger son.  Outside of martial arts, John is an avid bonsai artist, collecting and developing trees in his spare time.
