But there's no need to be intimidated as our team of instructors and students will work with you to make your time on the mat fun, and you'll meet a lot of new friends along the way. Be excited at the fact that you are about to learn one of the most effective and practical martial arts in existence with some of the best and most experienced bjj practitioners in the world.

The beginner Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training program (white belt) teaches you the core basics of bjj. You'll learn the concept of structure, posture and base, how to grip properly, how to shrimp and bridge, how to land during a take down, basic guard passes and a few core submissions like an arm bar and a triangle. You'll also learn a few standard choke holds and how to defend against basic arm and neck attacks. Then, you'll do lots and lots of drill repetition until you get comfortable with these BJJ basics.

After a few months of training, you'll have found a few regular drilling partners with whom you trust that you'll be able to work with to fine tune your technique. Always remember to leave your ego at home. Hygene is extremely important so make sure you and your gi are clean for each training session. Constant practice is how to move from surviving to thriving in bjj.
